Sakawa Co., Ltd., headquartered in Toon City, Ehime Prefecture, will release "Wide Lite," a new model in its "Wide" series of ultra-wide short-throw projectors, on April 22, 2026. This new model focuses on display functions to achieve an accessible price point, while maintaining the high-quality large-screen projection of the original series. The "Wide" series was recognized for its contribution to the education sector, receiving the Excellence Award at the 10th "Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award" in March 2026. The "Wide" series, which integrates the benefits of traditional blackboards with digital technology, celebrates its 10th anniversary since its launch and is currently used in over 10,000 classrooms nationwide. Key features of the "Wide" series include 4500 lumens brightness, ultra-wide 16:6 aspect ratio projection (fitting 3.6m x 1.2m blackboards), digital slide function (Patent No. 6608080), and simultaneous dual-screen display. The "Wide Lite" (model SP-UW4500-LT) specifically offers a simplified specification without an electronic pen (interactive function) to cater to users who prioritize display capabilities and affordability, aligning with the increased need for presenting more materials in classrooms post-GIGA School concept. The original model, "Wide 4500" (SP-UW4500), remains available for purchase as of April 2026. Sakawa, a blackboard manufacturer founded in 1919, developed the "Wide" series to address teacher workload and improve lesson efficiency by enabling a blend of digital and analog instruction.
