Tomioka Town, Fukushima Prefecture, and the Sankei Shimbun have announced the 'Know the Now of Tomioka Tour' for parent-child pairs from the Tokyo metropolitan area (July 18–20) and the Kansai region (August 1–3), with travel planning and operation by Wins Travel. The tour aims to share the current reality of Tomioka Town as it recovers from the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, dispel reputational damage, and support the town's revival.
Participants will experience flounder fishing, join a seafood cooking class and dinner to taste their catch, visit a food inspection center to learn about radiation and food safety, and inspect the town's recovery progress. Participants are required to post their experiences on social media to spread awareness about Tomioka's current situation.
