Sanrio announced that four of its popular rabbit characters—Marron Cream, Usahana, Wish me mell, and Bonbonribbon—have formed a new unit called 'Cheeristails,' launching on June 9, 2026.

This unit is composed of four rabbit characters that debuted between the 1980s and the 2010s. The unit name combines 'Cheer,' meaning to support; '-ist,' meaning a person who does something; and 'tails,' referring to their tails, which also resonates with 'tales' (stories). The concept, 'A step with four tails,' is designed to accompany those struggling with their sense of self and support them in taking a step forward.

Following the launch, the unit opened an official X account. Other planned activities include the creation of an original theme song, a feature in the 'Monthly Strawberry News,' appearance at 'Sanrio Fes 2026 in Minatomirai,' and the release of their first original products.

Member Profiles: - Marron Cream (Debuted 1985, born May 31) - Usahana (Debuted 2000, born August 7) - Wish me mell (Debuted 2010, born September 20) - Bonbonribbon (Debuted 2012, born August 8)

The background of the unit formation stems from the growing attention to values that cherish 'being oneself' and expressing freely, aiming for these four characters to become a presence that encourages others.
