Sanrio Shops 55th Anniversary "Mini Sanrio Series" to Launch on July 15 (Wed)

Sanrio Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Tomokuni Tsuji, hereinafter referred to as Sanrio) is celebrating the 55th anniversary of Sanrio Shops in 2026, thanks to the support of many customers since the opening of the first Sanrio Shop in 1971. To commemorate this milestone, the "Mini Sanrio Series" will be launched on July 15, 2026 (Wed) at Sanrio direct stores nationwide, Sanrio corners in department stores, the Sanrio Online Shop, and more.

The 55th anniversary of Sanrio Shops will be celebrated under the theme "55 Years of Sanrio Shops ~Gift Stories Connected by Ribbons~," and through products and in-store events, we will once again deliver the excitement of shopping that Sanrio Shops has cherished for 55 years. The "Mini Sanrio Series" being released this time is one of these initiatives, a series that expresses the world of Sanrio Shops in miniature. The lineup includes a total of 25 items, such as mascot holders of characters dressed in Sanrio Shop staff aprons, secret items that are miniature versions of popular standard Sanrio Shop products, and pouches using past shop bag designs.

In addition to this series, we are planning to release related series to further enjoy the 55th anniversary of Sanrio Shops, distribute novelty gifts at target stores, and hold in-store events. Please look forward to future developments.

Sanrio Shops' 55-year journey connecting encounters with Sanrio characters

In 1971, Sanrio opened its first directly managed store, "Shinjuku Gift Gate," in Shinjuku. Sanrio Shops, loved as a place for encounters with characters and for choosing gifts for loved ones, has delivered the time of choosing products as a fun experience through shop bags, wrapping, and store displays. Since then, the company has developed memorable shops for each era, such as "Ichigo no Ouchi" (House of Strawberries) in Denenchofu, with its impressive strawberry-shaped exterior, opened in 1983, and "Ginza Sanrio Gallery" in Ginza in 1987, which offered a space like an amusement park in the city. At "Sanrio Harajuku Store," opened in 2025, with the theme "The Most Sanrio Store in the World," in addition to encounters with products, customers can also experience the world of characters and enjoy original decorations with patch decorating. Sanrio Shops, which have evolved and continued their journey over the eras, now operate approximately 150 stores nationwide (as of July 8, 2026) and will continue to deliver memorable shopping moments to customers.

"Gyaru Mori MAX Design Series" launching July 23 (Thu) and store decorations limited to 9 stores

To commemorate the 55th anniversary of Sanrio Shops, the "Gyaru Mori MAX Design Series" (19 items), featuring a vivid and sparkling design taste popular around 2000, will be released on July 23 (Thu). The lineup allows you to enjoy nostalgic memories, with items reminiscent of shop bags from that era.

In conjunction with the release of this series, from July 23 (Thu) to August 23 (Sun), 9 Sanrio Shops will feature store decorations and photo spots for a "Heisei Gal" experience as "Sanrio Shop 55th Anniversary Heisei Time Slip?! Vivitix Theme Store." At the photo spots, items such as flip phones with tail straps and long nails will be available for you to take photos in the style of a Heisei gal. Additionally, by scanning a QR code at the photo spot, you can digitally transform into a gal with makeup using TikTok's effect feature.
