Facility Overview
The Itabashi区立熱帯環境植物館 (commonly known as "Nettikkan") is a facility that three-dimensionally reproduces the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Centered around a greenhouse divided into three vegetation zones: intertidal zone vegetation, tropical lowland forest, and village landscape, it also features a cool room reproducing the cloud forest of tropical alpine regions, and a mini aquarium in the basement, making it a museum-style botanical garden where you can enjoy and learn about the continuous tropical environment from the sea to the mountains.

Mini Aquarium: Exhibiting the world's largest freshwater stingray, "Himantura chaophraya."
The cloud forest (cool room) exhibiting tropical alpine plants is a cool spot recommended for summer. Approximately 700 species and 2,000 plants are exhibited in the facility!
The entire facility covers approximately 3,000 m2, with a planting area of 1,000 m2, ensuring a large open space from the basement to the second floor. Opened in September 1994 as an energy-saving facility utilizing waste heat from the Itabashi Incineration Plant, along with the adjacent Takashimadaira Hot Water Pool and Takashimadaira Community Center. On the second floor, there is a "Cafe Claire" where you can relax while viewing the greenhouse plants, offering delicious Asian food such as Malaysian chicken curry and nasi goreng, as well as sweets like pancakes.
*The cafe is only open on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
