(Location: Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture) announces that "Anitouch Lalaport Nagoya Minato AQULS" (Location: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) has welcomed new members: the "Himalayan Marmot" and the "Cape Hyrax," both for the first time at this facility. General viewing will commence on Friday, June 12, 2026, in a newly established dedicated exhibition area.

Himalayan Marmot A large member of the squirrel family with a gentle and relaxed personality. They can gnaw on hard wood. Observe the differences with the Cape Hyrax.

[Classification] Rodentia, Sciuridae, Marmota genus

[Distribution] Himalayas, Tibetan Plateau, inhabiting altitudes of 3000-5500m

[Morphology] Body length: 45-70cm, Weight: 5-9kg

Cape Hyrax They resemble mice but are a completely different species. Their upturned mouth corners give them an expressive appearance. Observe the differences with the Himalayan Marmot.
