"Lalique - Glass of Light and Coolness -" Exhibition to be held from Saturday, July 11, 2026
New York Lamp Museum & Flower Garden will hold its 2nd special exhibition, "Lalique - Glass of Light and Coolness -" from Saturday, July 11, 2026, to Monday, October 12, 2026 (Holiday). This exhibition, the second for our garden, will feature approximately 30 works by René Lalique, a glass artist active during the Art Deco period (1910s-1930s), which was a popular artistic style in Europe. The works will be displayed within the "Tiffany Museum."
Interior view of the museum
In the 1st special exhibition held last year, visitors enjoyed a variety of glass works from the Art Nouveau period (around 1890 - early 20th century). This style is characterized by flowing, plant-like curves and decorative elements that incorporated the beauty of nature. The antique Tiffany pieces permanently displayed in the museum also exude a presence that symbolizes this era.

In contrast, Lalique's works, which began full-scale mass production of glass around 1910, are urban and sophisticated. They have a high affinity with industrial products such as perfume bottles and car mascots, and possess a modern aesthetic.
Focus on the sophisticated designs of Art Deco Large plate "Angels"
This exhibition not only allows you to enjoy the "duel" of glass art between Tiffany, the "flower" of Art Nouveau, and Lalique, the "master" of Art Deco, but also provides an opportunity to reflect on the design styles and historical backgrounds of each.
Beautiful milky white opalescent glass Vase "Maenads"
Feeling coolness and softness in hard glass "Lily Pattern Opal Bowl"
Furthermore, a noteworthy aspect of Lalique's works lies in the beauty of the glass material itself. Opalescent glass, which appears milky white and translucent, and a frosted, semi-transparent texture bring a cool and delicate softness to the hard glass. The combination of materials and modern design creates works with a cool charm, inviting visitors into a refreshing world in contrast to the scorching sun. This summer, please enjoy a world of beauty in a refreshing and luxurious space.
