Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshiro Watanabe; hereinafter "the Company") announced on May 18, 2026, that it has signed a contract with Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (hereinafter "BRIN") for the supply of fuel evaluation equipment developed by the Company.

The Company and BRIN previously signed a memorandum of agreement in 2025 to conduct joint research on utilizing abundant yet largely unused biomass resources in Indonesia—such as palm residue (residue)—as fuel for power generation boilers. This latest contract for the delivery of fuel evaluation equipment aims to support the development of new biomass-based fuels.

By supplying this equipment, the Company will further strengthen its collaboration with BRIN and contribute to promoting renewable energy adoption in Indonesia through the effective utilization of unused biomass resources.
