Shibuya Scramble Square Collaborates Again with Popular Manga 'Space Brothers' to Launch 'Shibuya Cosmic School' Event Starting August 3

Shibuya Scramble Square (hereinafter referred to as the facility) will host a collaboration event titled 'Shibuya Scramble Square × Space Brothers: Shibuya Cosmic School – Encounter Questions. Encounter Excitement.' from Monday, August 3, 2026, to Sunday, August 23, 2026, celebrating the conclusion of the popular manga 'Space Brothers,' which will end its 18-year serialization on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

During the event, three themed classrooms will be launched: the 'Classroom of Creation' on the 12th-floor event space Scene12, the 'Classroom of Stories' at SCRAMBLE books& inside TULLY’S COFFEE commu square on the 9th floor, and the 'Classroom of the World' at the SKY GALLERY on the 46th floor of SHIBUYA SKY. A variety of special programs, available only this summer, will allow visitors to deeply experience the world of 'Space Brothers' as they explore each classroom. These include exhibitions, talk live events featuring the manga's creator Tsuyoshi Koyama, workshops where participants can experience the 'scent of space,' and limited-edition goods available exclusively at the venue.

'Classroom of Creation': 'SHIBUYA MOON BASE' @ 12th-floor event space Scene12

In addition to photo spots and quote panels from 'Space Brothers,' this space will feature talk live events by creator Tsuyoshi Koyama, workshops offering a sensory experience of the 'Space Brothers' universe through scent, and a large official store. This is the main hub of the event, designed to inspire visitors to pursue their own dreams through diverse interactive programs.

'Classroom of Stories': 'Koyama Stationery Store & Space Brothers' @ SCRAMBLE books& inside TULLY’S COFFEE commu square on the 9th floor

At SCRAMBLE books&, a space where trends and culture intersect within the facility, visitors will discover stationery items beloved by Koyama-sensei, a passionate stationery enthusiast, as well as his curated book selections. The atmosphere of Koyama-sensei’s writing desk, offering a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of manga creation, will be recreated for an immersive experience.

Beyond the panoramic views from SHIBUYA SKY, three special exhibitions will offer visitors a cosmic perspective, creating a unique experience where the narrative of 'Space Brothers' overlaps with the real world.

1. Exploring Clouds from Space Using 'Hobico Earth Ball' – Commentary by Cloud Researcher Kentaro Araki

Clouds, which appear in memorable scenes in 'Space Brothers,' such as the 'Rocket Road.' Cloud expert Kentaro Araki will explain the appearance of clouds as seen from space, using the 'Hobico Earth Ball' and images from the 'Himawari' weather satellite. Participants will receive the 'Hobico Earth Ball,' a new globe using AR technology, allowing them to explore Earth from a cosmic perspective.
