Shimamura Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 1-602-1 Kitabukuro-cho, Omiya-ku, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Director: Iichiro Takahashi) will conduct a "Clothing Collection" campaign at all Shimamura Group stores except those on remote islands (Shimamura, Avail, Birthday, Chambre, and Divalo) from Monday, April 6 to Sunday, April 19. Since launching at select stores in 2024, the company has collected over 210 tons of clothing to date. This round expands the program to even more stores, allowing greater participation from customers. ■ Purpose of the Clothing Collection Shimamura Group has positioned "Continuous Evolution Toward Zero Product Waste" as one of its ESG priorities, implementing a "zero waste" policy that aims to sell every last item of merchandise. (Surplus inventory is never discarded.) Building on this commitment, the group is now launching clothing collection to pursue "zero waste" for items customers no longer need after purchase. ■ About "Shima Eco" Among Shimamura's sustainability initiatives, its environmental efforts have been branded "Shima Eco" with a dedicated logo. Activities include waste reduction, resource reuse, and environmentally conscious product development. ■ How the Collection Works Collected clothing is consolidated at a recycling center operated by ECOMMIT Co., Ltd., the company's collaboration partner. At the recycling center, specialist staff sort items by condition into two pathways — Reuse and Recycle — enabling circular resource utilization.
