Shinchosha Publishing Co., Ltd. will release Haruki Murakami\'s latest long-form novel, \'The Tale of KAHO\', on July 3, 2026, in both print and digital editions. The book has 352 pages (equivalent to 650 manuscript pages) and is already available for pre-order at bookstores. Featuring a single female protagonist, a first for Murakami\'s novels, the book compiles and revises the \'Kaho\' series published in the monthly magazine \'Shincho\' from June 2024 to March 2026. Teaser posters featuring an anteater-like creature and chapter titles such as \'Kaho and the Motorcycle Man\' and \'The Anteater of Musashisakai\' will be displayed in bookstores nationwide starting mid-June 2026. The story follows Kaho, a 26-year-old picture book writer, who begins experiencing strange events after being told by a man she meets for the first time: \'To be honest, I\'ve never seen an opponent as ugly as you.\' Murakami is an award-winning author whose major works include \'Norwegian Wood\' and \'1Q84\'.
