Summary

This survey was conducted on 110 HR and general affairs managers involved in planning and implementing employee benefits who have already introduced or are considering introducing both meal subsidies/"oki-shokushoku" services and in-store shops.

First, regarding the outsourcing status of meal support and in-store shops, 50.0% outsourced to "separate companies," exceeding the 39.1% who outsourced to "the same company." When asked about the appeal of one-stop outsourcing to managers who outsource to separate companies or operate in-house, 88.8% (combining "very appealing" at 32.3% and "somewhat appealing" at 56.5%) found it appealing. The most common reason for finding it appealing was "Because we can link the product lineups of the cafeteria and shop" (60.0%), followed by "Because we can expect optimization of overall costs" (52.7%). Regarding the importance of linking meal support and health management, 93.6% (combining "strongly agree" at 43.6% and "somewhat agree" at 50.0%) responded that it is important, with the reasons being "Because meal support is effective as a concrete action for health management" (70.9%) and "Because diet directly impacts employee health" (52.4%) ranking high.

Regarding providers offering integrated cafeteria, shop, and health support, 56.4% "know and have used them," while 14.5% "did not know" them. The most important conditions for selecting a contractor were closely contested between "Cost Performance" (32.7%) and "One-stop support capability for multiple services" (30.9%), and 93.6% also emphasized the importance of unified service provision across multiple locations.

This survey revealed that while the current mainstream is still a system of managing meal support, in-store shops, and health management initiatives separately, the majority of managers desire integrated operation of these services. As the promotion of health management becomes established as a management issue, there is a growing awareness of positioning meal support not just as employee benefits but as a core component of health initiatives. Consolidating to a one-stop employee benefits partner that offers cost performance, one-stop support capabilities, and unified service provision across multiple locations may be an effective option for improving both management efficiency and employee satisfaction.
