Shizuoka University and Yamaha Corporation Release New Educational Material Utilizing Jointly Developed "Leisure Encyclopedia"

The Shiota Laboratory (Associate Professor: Shingo Shiota) at the Faculty of Education, National University Corporation Shizuoka University, has developed new educational material titled "Broaden Your Ways of Enjoying Your Leisure Time," utilizing the "Leisure Encyclopedia for Enjoying Life" jointly developed with Yamaha Corporation.

Current career education in schools tends to focus on the aspect of "what kind of job to get." However, in the coming "100-year lifespan" era, it is important to have a perspective that includes enjoying life by enriching one's leisure time, not just work. With this awareness, the Shiota Laboratory and Yamaha Corporation have been advancing joint research on leisure since fiscal year 2024 and have developed the "Leisure Encyclopedia for Enjoying Life." This new material has been developed as a tool to utilize that leisure encyclopedia.

This educational material focuses on the fact that even for the same leisure activity, the way people enjoy it differs. For example, with music, some people find joy in improving their skills, while others enjoy interacting with friends. Students will reflect on their own ways of enjoying leisure and consider new ways to enjoy it and things they want to try.

Furthermore, by implementing this before the summer vacation, the aim is to provide students with an opportunity to focus on how they can spend their leisure time in a way that suits them and on new experiences during the time they have more freedom than usual.

We will be conducting this class on July 9 (Thu) at Makinohara City Sagara Junior High School, and we kindly request coverage from members of the press.
