Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, as part of the 'Zero-One Grand Slam Executive Committee,' is operating the 'National Elementary School Programming Competition: Zero-One Grand Slam,' hosted by the Junior Programming Promotion Organization. Having attracted over 6,000 elementary students to date, it has established itself as one of the largest programming competitions in the field. The web qualifiers for the 5th annual tournament began on May 15, 2026. The competition uses 'Scratch,' a visual programming language used by children worldwide. Entry is free, and any elementary student can participate online from anywhere in the country. Group entries are also available. The second round will be divided into visual programming and robotics, with top performers advancing to the final on September 27. Regional rounds will be held in Osaka on August 16 and Kanagawa on August 22. Gold sponsors include Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., and the event is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
