Immediately after the end of World War II, children born between Allied soldiers, primarily from the United States, and Japanese women faced severe discrimination because they had fathers from enemy countries and their physical features differed from those of Japanese children. Miki Sawada was a woman who was among the first to reach out to these "war-mixed-blood orphans" who had nowhere to go.

Miki, born into a privileged environment as a daughter of the Iwasaki family of the Mitsubishi zaibatsu, was an active girl who dreamed of a wider world. After marriage, she traveled abroad with her diplomat husband and experienced the cultures of many countries. She later returned to Japan and was shocked to see the harsh reality faced by "war-mixed-blood orphans" in the chaos of the postwar period.

Drawing on her experience visiting clean and well-equipped orphanages abroad and her encounters with friends who did not shy away from discrimination, she founded an orphanage called Elizabeth Sanders Home and dedicated herself to helping children grow up healthy. Her life, in which she raised 2,000 children while fighting discrimination and prejudice, is clearly depicted in manga.
