Sightron Japan has released the Askar 50P, a compact astrograph with a 50mm aperture, 190mm focal length, and f/3.8 focal ratio, from Jiaxing Ruixing Optical Instrument's 'Askar' brand, on May 22, 2026. Equipped with a 4-element Petzval optical system including one SD glass element, it features a self-flattening design that produces a flat image plane without the need for additional corrective lenses. This lightweight model condenses versatility and ease of handling into a portable tube.

Product Features:

Making Astrophotography Accessible: The Askar 50P condenses a fast f/3.8 Petzval system into a 147mm long, 1.4kg tube. Its self-flattening design allows users to enjoy professional astrophotography with APS-C cameras or smaller.

Fast f/3.8 Aperture and Petzval Optics: The 4-group, 4-element design incorporates one SD glass element and is optimized for APS-C and 1-inch sensors. The fast f/3.8 focal ratio reduces exposure times for live stacking, making it ideal for EAA (Electronically Assisted Astronomy).

Flexible Camera Compatibility: It uses a versatile M48x0.75mm connection interface. With a back-focus range of 50mm to 65mm, it supports the attachment of guide cameras or eyepieces using standard M48-31.7mm adapters.

Multifunctional Interface: The smooth helical focuser supports third-party electronic focusers. It includes a 360-degree field rotator and built-in filter threads. The multifunctional handle features an Arca-Swiss compatible groove and mounting points for multiple accessories such as finders or guidescopes.

Lightweight Design and Expandability: Weighing 1.4kg and measuring 147mm, it is optimized for field travel. The objective hood is reversible for storage, and metal protective caps are included.
