Sumitomo Mitsui Auto Service (SMAS) and Summit Energy have announced the launch of a joint trial, with Horiuchi Electric as the pilot site, combining EV charging and power services to promote EV adoption and achieve a decarbonized society.

Background and Purpose As the number of EVs in corporate fleets grows in pursuit of 2050 carbon neutrality, the challenge lies in minimizing charging efforts and efficiently curbing electricity costs without hindering EV usage. SMAS aims to achieve a sustainable mobility society through corporate vehicle leasing and fleet management support. Summit Energy utilizes its expertise in power supply and tariff design to contribute to better EV environments from the perspective of power demand. Trial Outline The trial combines SMAS's EV fleet management with Summit Energy's power supply and tariff design capabilities to verify: - The feasibility of a 'Power and Charging Service' offering end-to-end integration from EV procurement to power contracts and charging control. - Optimal charging management based on actual usage and vehicle booking data. - EV-specific tariff structures and cost reduction effects for customers.
