Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. (President: Koji Ishikawa) is launching a new initiative in collaboration with Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture (Mayor: Kuninori Taketori), with whom it signed a 'Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on Improving Regional Well-being' on August 29, 2025, aimed at promoting AED utilization with consideration for women. As part of this, we are pleased to announce that we donated 100 privacy-protection bandanas to Iyo City and held a donation ceremony on May 29, 2026. Background: Sompo Japan aims to contribute to the sustainable development of local communities through partnerships with local governments across Japan. We focused on the social issue where psychological resistance during AED use, particularly the hesitation to remove clothing when assisting women, acts as a barrier to life-saving activities. Purpose: This initiative aims to create a rescue environment that respects women's physical exposure by using privacy-protection bandanas during AED use, thereby realizing a local society where rescuers can perform rapid life-saving activities without hesitation. Donation Ceremony: The ceremony was held at Iyo City Hall on May 29, 2026, attended by Mayor Taketori and Makoto Ueda, Branch Manager of Sompo Japan's Ehime Branch. Future Outlook: Sompo Japan will continue to work closely with Iyo City, utilizing our accumulated know-how and resources to contribute to solving local community issues and supporting regional revitalization.
