SOMPO Holdings Accelerates Group Strategy to Solve Social Issues

SOMPO Holdings, Inc. (Group CEO: Mikio Okumura) is contributing to the sustainable development of society towards the realization of SOMPO's purpose, "A future overflowing with "peace of mind, safety, and health." We are pleased to announce that our subsidiary, SOMPO Wellbeing Co., Ltd., will begin offering the support service "Wellbio Biz-Light" for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to address the increasingly serious issue of balancing work and nursing care, starting July 1, 2026. This service leverages the expertise gained from our proven track record with large corporations to support the sustainable growth of more companies and improve employee well-being, and is part of the social issue-driven business promoted by the SOMPO Group.

1. The Social Issue of Balancing Work and Nursing Care as Perceived by the SOMPO Group

In Japan, where the declining birthrate and aging population are rapidly progressing, balancing work and nursing care for employees is a critical management issue facing companies. It is an urgent need from the perspective of securing excellent human resources and maintaining productivity. The government is also promoting support for work-life balance in companies through measures such as the "Guidelines for Business Owners on Supporting Work-Life Balance with Nursing Care" and the enforcement of the "Revised Child Care and Nursing Care Leave Act," increasing the necessity for society as a whole to address this issue.

The SOMPO Group leverages its long-standing expertise in the nursing care business and its risk management know-how cultivated through its insurance business to provide multifaceted solutions to this social issue, based on SOMPO's purpose.

2. Bringing Large Corporate Experience to SMEs, Promoting Social Issue Resolution Across the Group

Our group company, SOMPO Wellbeing Co., Ltd., launched the work-life balance support service "Wellbio Biz" for large corporations in July 2025, and has received a significant positive response, with over 150,000 people (※120,000 employees excluding those from SOMPO Group companies) utilizing the service.

Building on this success and the growing societal interest in balancing work and nursing care, SOMPO Wellbeing has developed "Wellbio Biz-Light," a package-type service that is easier to implement, to meet the needs of more companies, especially SMEs. This service will be offered starting July 1, 2026. This is part of the group strategy to bring together the knowledge and resources of the SOMPO Group and contribute to the improvement of well-being for society as a whole.

3. Comprehensive Support for Balancing Work and Nursing Care with "Wellbio Biz-Light"

"Wellbio Biz-Light" optimizes the extensive content developed for the large corporate service "Wellbio Biz" for SMEs and offers it at an accessible price point. The service comprehensively supports the functions necessary for balancing work and nursing care, regardless of company size. This includes providing basic knowledge and information on support systems for nursing care, surveys to understand employees' nursing care situations, online seminars and video content by experts, an online community where participants can share their concerns, and individual consultation services provided by specialists such as former nursing care facility directors and care managers.

Through this service, we aim to create an environment where employees can continue to work with peace of mind and support the sustainable growth of SMEs.

4. Realizing a Society of "Peace of Mind, Safety, and Health" Aimed for by the SOMPO Group

The SOMPO Group views "nursing care" in an aging society not merely as a challenge, but as a crucial theme for realizing a "Positive Aging" (※) society where everyone can live a fulfilling life, based on SOMPO's purpose of "A future overflowing with 'peace of mind, safety, and health.'" The offering of "Wellbio Biz-Light" is expected to contribute to the improvement of well-being for each individual employee working in companies, and by extension, to the realization of well-being for Japanese society as a whole.
