SonicWall Enhances IPv6 IPoE Connectivity for Japanese Market in UTM Gen 8 Product Line

SonicWall Japan Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter SonicWall) announced that its latest firmware "SonicOS 8.2.1" for UTM (Unified Threat Management) Gen 8 appliances has enhanced its support for IPoE connection environments, which are rapidly spreading within Japan.

This update supports JPIX Inc.'s "v6 Plus" static IP service, widely adopted by ISPs in Japan, enabling smoother IPv4/IPv6 internet connectivity for businesses and branch networks.

In recent years, Japan has seen a rapid adoption of the IPoE method over the traditional PPPoE method, driven by the need for improved communication quality and congestion avoidance. Consequently, IPoE support has become a critical requirement for corporate networks and service provider environments.

This update allows system integrators and service providers to build IPv4/IPv6 internet connectivity environments more flexibly and efficiently. Furthermore, SonicWall aims to offer a wider range of choices to meet the growing demand for low-cost security measures in the mid-to-small market, while also expanding collaboration with domestic partner companies and service providers.
