GRIFFY and SORACOM Collaborate to Launch Rental Service for 'Generative AI Site Monitoring System' – First Reveal at CSPI 2026

(Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & CEO: Ken Tamagawa), which provides an IoT platform, have announced a collaboration to launch a rental service for a new solution for the construction industry, the 'Generative AI Site Monitoring System,' starting July 1, 2026.

This system utilizes SORACOM's cloud camera service 'Sora-Cam' and the generative AI-powered IoT automation service 'SORACOM Flux.' It is an in-house solution optimized for construction sites by GRIFFY, an SPS-certified technology partner. By integrating cloud cameras with the latest generative AI (LLM), it automates monitoring and judgment tasks that previously relied on human eyes—such as 'Is a helmet being worn?' or 'Have materials decreased?'—using only natural language instructions (prompts). This is a rental-type solution for the construction industry.

A demonstration of this system will be held at the GRIFFY booth at the '8th International Construction & Surveying Exhibition (CSPI 2026)' held at Makuhari Messe from June 17.

Background of the Launch

The construction industry faces a severe labor shortage, making labor-saving in safety management and infrastructure monitoring an urgent issue. However, conventional AI cameras require preparing training data and individual tuning for each application, leading to high learning costs and long implementation periods, as well as difficulty in responding to the specific needs of each site.

To address this challenge, GRIFFY has combined SORACOM's advanced cloud services with GRIFFY's 'implementation capabilities' cultivated on-site. They have been conducting demonstration experiments for the following use cases:

• Safety Management: Detection of non-wearing of equipment (helmets, full harnesses, etc.)

• Material Management: Approximate quantity judgment of inventory and recording of changes

• Vehicle Management: Vacancy/occupancy judgment of parking spaces, length measurement of vehicles entering tunnels

• Infrastructure Inspection: Reading analog meters, monitoring snow accumulation and ash fall

Based on the results and insights from these demonstration experiments, they have determined that commercial service provision is feasible and have decided to start rental offerings. They will propose flexible plans according to the scale and needs of construction sites.

Main Features of the System

Multi-purpose Support Without Learning Costs, Only Through Prompt Adjustment: Using generative AI, analysis is possible simply by giving instructions in natural language, such as 'Is a helmet being worn?' or 'Is the meter needle within the proper range?' Detection conditions can be flexibly changed according to the site environment and needs. It can also be combined with external device linkage such as warning lights and email notifications.

High Reliability of Sora-Cam: Even for outdoor use, it can be started immediately if there is an LTE communication environment and power supply. In addition to a full HD, wide-angle 120-degree high-performance lens, it features IP65-equivalent waterproof and dustproof performance and an operating temperature range of -20°C to 55°C, ensuring stable operation even at outdoor sites.

Providing 'Usable AI' with Engineer Support: GRIFFY's specialized staff provides thorough operational support, including prompt settings that affect AI accuracy and selection of optimal camera positions for analysis. This enables site-led DX that non-engineers can also master.
