SoVeC and Croix Co-Develop Audio Design and Content for Immersive Salon 'nemcaro LAB'

SoVeC Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Eiji Uekawa; hereinafter 'SoVeC') has jointly developed the audio design and audio content production for 'nemcaro LAB,' an experiential wellness salon under the sleep wellness brand 'nemcaro,' with Croix Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Basho Tokita; hereinafter 'Croix').

This initiative was made possible by combining Croix's long-standing expertise in sleep wellness with SoVeC's know-how in spatial audio technology. SoVeC's 'XR Sound Experience' plays a central role in supporting 'nemcaro LAB's' mission to enhance rest quality by harmonizing the five senses.

By integrating SoVeC's 'XR Sound Experience' with the sound from the wellness device 'nemcaro Speaker' installed in each room, a real-time, ever-changing 'living natural sound environment' is created—resembling a natural ecosystem. This transcends the traditional role of background BGM, placing sound at the heart of the experience and creating an immersive well-being space that harmonizes users' five senses.

Introduction of the 'XR Sound Experience' into the Wellness Salon 'nemcaro LAB'

SoVeC's 'XR Sound Experience' uses the interactive sound engine vaud*¹, which generates sound in real time, and Sony's spatial audio player*², which integrates and controls multiple speakers placed in spaces of various shapes, to deliver a customizable spatial audio experience.

For this implementation, the experience has been optimized to match the spatial characteristics of 'nemcaro LAB'.

- Spatial audio design optimized for 'nemcaro LAB'

For 'nemcaro LAB,' SoVeC implemented spatial audio design optimized for the wellness salon's layout, including the entrance, corridors, and multiple private rooms. Through careful selection and placement of speakers, a total of 18 speakers were used to create a three-dimensional soundscape that immerses each area with the presence of nature.

SoVeC designed distinct spatial audio productions for each of the four types of sound emitted by the 'nemcaro Speaker,' a wellness device born from Croix's acoustic design philosophy 'Medicinal Music®.' New sound materials were created, taking into account the frequency characteristics and bandwidth of the 'nemcaro' sounds. Depending on the sound type selected by the customer, the audio spreads dynamically and naturally across each room.

Additionally, careful design ensures a seamless auditory experience even when different sound types are selected in different rooms.

Powered by the real-time operating game sound engine vaud, the audio environment continuously evolves like a natural setting. For example, by randomly controlling volume, timing, timbre, and pitch of bird songs and flowing water sounds, the audio subtly fluctuates, ensuring no two moments are the same. This provides a comfortable and natural auditory experience, even during extended stays.

While traditional relaxation salons often treat sound as mere background music, 'nemcaro LAB' places sound at the core of the experience, aiming to create a space where visitors deeply reset and open their senses.
