Sowledge General Incorporated Association (Representative Director: Riho Suzuki, Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) is launching "Youth Care Club" (hereinafter referred to as YCC), a community for practitioners and interested parties involved in sex education, SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights), and youth care to learn from each other, connect, and advance their practices.

YCC is a community that connects people involved in Sowledge's various projects to date, including the sex education material "Break Sugoroku," the program for learning about overseas sex education and youth care sites "SowLinks," the upcoming course for sex education instructors "SEED" scheduled for release next year, and the initiative in the youth clinic domain "Machikado Hoshitsu" (Street Corner Health Room).

It aims to transform SRHR from "a personal desire" into the power to implement it in the field, facilitating information sharing, events, and exchange of practical knowledge primarily through Slack.

Background of Establishment

In Japan, practices related to sex education, SRHR, and youth care are gradually expanding in various fields such as schools, communities, healthcare, NPOs, and families. However, there is still insufficient space for people working in these fields to connect continuously and share practical knowledge.

There are common challenges for those who want to deliver sex education as teachers, those who want to support the health of young people as medical and support professionals, those who want to learn from advanced overseas examples, and those who want to create youth clinics and counseling spaces in their communities.

"Where should I start?"

"I want to meet peers with the same concerns."

"I want to know the latest information and practical examples."

"I want to turn personal aspirations into sustainable systems and projects."

To respond to these needs, Sowledge is launching YCC as a place for practitioners and interested parties encountered through its past projects to connect continuously.

What is Youth Care Club (YCC)?

YCC is a Slack community for people interested in sex education, SRHR, and youth care.

It is aimed at those involved in the following initiatives developed by Sowledge, as well as those who wish to participate in the future.

Community Overview

YCC is a community for those involved or interested in sex education, SRHR, youth care, youth support, youth clinics, comprehensive sex education, school education, community support, NPO/government collaboration, etc. It will promptly share news, domestic and international case studies, research reports, practical insights, and event information related to sex education, SRHR, and youth support. It also aims to be a place where participants with similar concerns can meet and learn from each other.

How to Participate: Register via the dedicated form

Platform: Slack

Participation Fee: Free

Start Date: July 6, 2026 (Mon)

Value Provided by YCC

YCC will provide the following value:

1. Information Value: Sharing Information on SRHR and Youth Care

News, research, events, and practical examples related to sex education, SRHR, and youth care will be continuously shared on Slack.

By providing not only project information from Sowledge but also domestic and international trends and information beneficial to participants, we will foster collective intelligence that can be utilized in decision-making and practice in the field.

2. Connection Value: Meeting Peers with the Same Goals

People involved in sex education and youth care can sometimes feel isolated due to their region or profession. YCC creates a space where people from diverse backgrounds, such as teachers, medical professionals, support staff, NPO representatives, government officials, students, and parents, can meet and exchange knowledge.

3. Learning Opportunities: Monthly Free Online Events

At launch, one free online event is planned per month. Depending on the theme, representatives from Sowledge's various projects and external guests will speak and share insights on sex education, SRHR, and youth support.

July Free Online Event

The first free event in July 2026 will be held online with the theme "What's Happening with Overseas Sex Education Materials?" While it is said that "overseas sex education is advanced," what is actually taught and to what extent in the field? Based on the learnings from Sowledge's overseas training program "SowLinks," we will collectively consider how practices from the Netherlands, France, Sweden, and Denmark can be applied in Japan from a "take-home" perspective.

Future plans include expanding free online events, paid events, provision of digital materials, joint projects by practitioners, and channels for specific regions or specialized fields.

We hope that even though we work in different regions and positions, we can connect with each other, collaborate, and foster significant change that cannot be achieved by individuals alone. We look forward to your participation.

Comments

Kaho Ito, Director, Sowledge General Incorporated Association

Interest in SRHR and sex education is growing, but to translate that passion into sustainable practice in the field, we need information, peers, and mechanisms for implementation.

YCC is a place to implement individual concerns into society through mutual learning and support, without letting them remain isolated.

We hope it will be an opportunity for people involved in sex education and youth care to connect and take a step forward in their respective fields.
