Features of SPACECOOL Parasol Type2 and Industry-Leading Heat Shielding Performance
The radiative cooling material 'SPACECOOL', which achieves both high solar reflectance and infrared emissivity (both up to 95%), is used for the fabric. It greatly suppresses the intrusion of heat from sunlight and, furthermore, radiates the heat transmitted to the parasol into space as infrared rays. This achieves an 80% heat shielding rate (for the silver color) while maintaining industry-leading light shading and UV blocking rates. We consider it to be effectively an 'S75+⁽*⁾' rank that exceeds conventional heat shielding categories.
(*) 'S75+' is not a category established by industry standards. It is used as an indicator to more clearly express the heat shielding performance of parasol fabrics.
A key feature of the SPACECOOL Parasol Type2 is that its effectiveness has been measured in an actual outdoor environment. When photographed with a thermal camera outdoors on a sunny day in May, the SPACECOOL Parasol Type2 showed the lowest fabric surface temperature and user's top-of-head temperature. Compared to when not using a parasol, the top-of-head temperature was about 6°C lower. Please note that the actual sensible temperature varies depending on external air temperature, humidity, wind volume, etc.
The SPACECOOL Parasol Type2 recorded the lowest values for both the parasol's fabric surface temperature and the user's top-of-head temperature. Test conditions: May 19, 2026, 14:00, Osaka City, outside temperature 25°C, humidity 61%.
