SPACECOOL Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masahiro Suemitsu; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") will participate in the "End the Scorching Summer WEEK" event, scheduled to be held from Saturday, August 1st to Sunday, August 9th, 2026.
Reason for Participation
In recent years, extreme heat caused by global warming has become increasingly severe, significantly impacting our lives and social activities. While efforts to mitigate global warming are underway worldwide, there are challenges in implementing all measures immediately due to cost and time constraints. Therefore, we are called upon to rapidly promote not only "mitigation" measures for global warming but also "adaptation" measures to the ongoing warming.
The Company is working to implement "SPACECOOL," a radiative cooling material, into society to address various heat-related issues affecting people, goods, and society due to global warming, from both "mitigation" and "adaptation" perspectives. At the same time, we believe it is important for society as a whole to view this heat not as something "unavoidable" but as something that "must be confronted."
"End the Scorching Summer WEEK" is precisely an initiative that reframes this heat as a personal issue and transforms it into a force for social change. The Company believes that the purpose of this project aligns with our own aspirations, and thus we are participating. Through our participation in this project, we aim to contribute to building a society where the entire community confronts extreme heat, and people's lives and potential are not limited by the heat.
What is "End the Scorching Summer WEEK"?
Climate change is no longer a distant issue; it is beginning to threaten the lives of us living in Japan. However, there is still a significant gap between the physical sensation of "heat" and the understanding of "climate change."
To create an opportunity to re-examine climate change as a personal issue during this period, the Japan Climate Leaders' Partnership (JCLP) registered August 8th as "End the Scorching Summer Day" with the Japan Anniversary Association in 2025. Centered around this anniversary, the JAPAN 8・8 PROJECT Executive Committee has designated August 1st to 9th as "End the Scorching Summer WEEK." During this period, various programs will be offered to encourage people to re-examine climate change as a personal issue, gather voices from within this heat, and aim to transform them into a force for social change.
