The New Social System Research Institute (SSK) will hold a seminar titled 'Rare Metal and Rare Earth Resource Circulation Trends' on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The seminar will feature Yuki Morita, an analyst from the Materials Team at Mizuho Bank's Industrial Research Department, and Professor Tomonori Yamaguchi from Waseda University's Faculty of Science and Engineering. They will address the risks of supply dependency on critical minerals and explore the latest recycling technologies. Mr. Morita will discuss the rare metal market, the importance of recycling, trends in lithium-ion battery (Lib) recycling, and challenges in magnet recycling. Professor Yamaguchi will focus on recycling methods for neodymium magnets used in electric vehicle motors, explaining the principles and results of the 'flux method' developed in collaboration with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., as well as its applications in other fields. The seminar will be available via in-person attendance, live Zoom streaming, and a two-week archive, providing strategic insights for securing stable resources in the industry.
