<1> Perovskite Solar Cells Begin Commercialization

~Current Status and Prospects of Technological Development~

By Koji Segawa [1:00 PM - 2:10 PM]

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are attracting attention from the perspectives of economic security and energy security, as they do not rely on risk countries for raw materials. PSCs can be lightweight, flexible, and see-through, enabling on-site power generation where electricity is needed, thus expanding adoption without burdening the power grid. In Japan, the 7th Strategic Energy Plan sets a goal of introducing 20 gigawatts of PSCs by 2040, and the government and private sector are working together to promote their widespread use.

This lecture will introduce the current status and prospects of research and development of PSCs, which have achieved energy conversion efficiencies exceeding 27% at the laboratory level.

1. Current Status of Renewable Energy in Japan

2. Reasons for Expectations for Perovskite Solar Cells

3. Features and Latest Technologies of Perovskite Solar Cells

4. The Future of Energy Utilization Opened Up by Perovskite Solar Cells

5. Q&A / Business Card Exchange

<2> Building a Supply Chain for Next-Generation Solar Cells and Japan's Winning Strategy

By Shoko Shirokura [2:20 PM - 3:30 PM]

The 7th Strategic Energy Plan outlines a policy to maximize the use of decarbonized power sources, and further expansion of solar power generation is expected. Furthermore, from a geopolitical perspective, not only decarbonization but also expectations are growing for next-generation solar cells as they contribute to strengthening resilience.

This lecture will explain the trends and potential of perovskite solar cells, which are attracting attention as one of the next-generation solar cells, and present hypotheses on Japan's winning strategy.

1. Overview of Next-Generation Solar Cells

2. Market Environment for Solar Power Generation and Expectations for Next-Generation Solar Cells

3. Japan's Strengths in Next-Generation Solar Cells

4. Strategies Japan Should Adopt to Win the Market for Next-Generation Solar Cells

5. Q&A / Business Card Exchange
