[Key Lecture Contents]

Autonomous driving technology has evolved primarily through the advancement of vehicle control using rule-based approaches based on diverse sensing data such as cameras, radar, and LiDAR. In recent years, End-to-End approaches, where AI learns recognition and control integrally, have also been progressing. While commercialization of driverless taxis and autonomous trucks is advancing overseas, particularly in the US and China, initiatives in Japan remain in the demonstration phase. Furthermore, the spread of autonomous driving is transforming the form of mobility provision from "ownership" to "service utilization," and is beginning to impact the nature of financial services. With the expansion of business models based on operational data and utilization rates, diversification of involvement by financial institutions is expected. This lecture will organize the overview and latest trends of autonomous driving technology, and based on domestic and international use cases, will consider the challenges for social implementation and promotion measures including the future of financial services.
