STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) has introduced the DCP3603, a monolithic step-down DC/DC converter with a 3A output capacity in a compact 3 x 1.6mm footprint. It simplifies design, reduces board space, shortens development time, and improves system reliability. Supporting a wide input voltage range of 3.3V to 36V, it is suitable for smart meters, home appliances, and 24V industrial systems. The device achieves 93% efficiency at a 600mA load and is available in two modes: forced PWM and pulse-skipping. The evaluation board STEVAL-3603BC1 is also available. It is currently in mass production, with unit prices around $0.44 for 1,000 units.
