・Shipment of the first STM32 microcontroller products manufactured entirely in China for China-based customers has commenced.

・Local integrated production begins with the high-performance STM32H7 series, with plans to expand to the STM32H5 series, which optimally combines performance and security, and the entry-level STM32C5 series in the future.

STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor manufacturer supplying to a wide range of electronics applications, today announced the shipment of its general-purpose microcontrollers (MCUs) "STM32" manufactured in China. Through manufacturing outsourcing to Hua Hong, an ST partner for 15 years, the first STM32 produced entirely in China has already been shipped to key customers in China. This marks an innovative step in ST's global supply chain strategy. The company plans to add more STM32 MCU variants manufactured in China, with local mass production of MCU series that optimally combine performance and security, as well as entry-level MCU series, scheduled to begin within 2026.

Henry Cao, Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Greater China region at ST, commented: "The start of STM32 MCU mass production in China is a core commitment to our Chinese customers. Working with Hua Hong, ST will provide products identical to those leading the global market through a local MCU supply chain that offers superior security, reliability, and resilience. ST will continue to support the needs of Chinese customers more quickly and accurately going forward."

This collaboration makes ST the first global semiconductor manufacturer to complete the manufacturing of 40nm MCUs using the same design and technology as products manufactured outside China, establishing two supply chains within and outside China. ST has built a fully localized STM32 supply chain encompassing wafer manufacturing, packaging, and testing.

For front-end wafer manufacturing, ST is strengthening its 15-year partnership with Hua Hong, applying the same 40nm embedded Non-Volatile Memory (eNVM) technology and quality control standards as ST's other global sites. This ensures seamless compatibility with ST's worldwide quality standards for products manufactured in China. Packaging and testing processes are supported by ST's Shenzhen facility and local Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) providers.

This manufacturing model offers Chinese customers two MCU supply chain options, allowing them to choose between products manufactured in China or outside China, while maintaining globally consistent quality and compatibility.
