The carcinogenic soybean salad oil scandal involving Zhonglian Oils continues to escalate. On the 8th, Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare's Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released the latest list of affected products, mandating a full preventive recall of 232 food items. This includes multiple best-selling convenience store products, as well as well-known brand items such as salads, sauces, and ready-to-eat meals.
Notably, several fresh food items for convenience stores, co-manufactured by Lianhua Foods, including the popular 'Lin Congming Chicken Rice Balls' and 'Fuhang Soy Milk Rice Balls,' are also included. The announcement has drawn immediate public attention. Below is a complete list of the 232 recalled products, including their expiration dates.
The 232 products announced by the TFDA must be fully withdrawn from shelves by midnight on July 8.
Minister of Health and Welfare Shih Chong-liang stated that to ensure food safety, even products using less than 20% of the contaminated oil are being handled under the highest standards, requiring all affected products to be withdrawn preventively.
A total of 232 products are being recalled, including 175 items that contain less than 20% of the problematic oil. All must be removed from shelves by 12:00 AM on July 8 to minimize consumer exposure risks.
Currently, the TFDA has traced 360 downstream businesses, with 331 product distribution paths confirmed. The remaining 29 are still under investigation, and the list of affected products will be updated as new findings emerge.
Wide Range of Products Affected: Convenience Store Meals, Salads, Sauces
According to the TFDA, the affected products span multiple categories, including: convenience store rice balls, ready-to-eat fresh foods, salads and salad dressings, seasonings, dipping sauces, baking fillings, cooking oils, vegetarian processed foods, and various flavored sauces.
Key products drawing attention include:
- Lin Congming Chicken Rice Balls - Fuhang Soy Milk Rice Balls - Multiple salad products from Guilamb - Various sauces from Wei-Chuan - Guangda Xiang Vegetarian Furikake
How Consumers Can Check if They Have Affected Products
The TFDA has published the full list of 232 products, including product names, expiration dates (or shelf life), and identification details, to help consumers verify whether they have purchased any affected items.
If consumers still have any of these products at home, they are advised to stop consuming them immediately and follow return or exchange procedures as announced by retailers or brands.
The TFDA emphasized that it will continue tracing downstream distribution channels and will update the list promptly if additional affected products are identified.
