Taipei City Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an announced the schedule for receiving the 2026 Respect for the Elderly gift money and also launched upgraded benefits for the Respect for the Elderly Love Card.

This year's Respect for the Elderly gift money is determined based on the revised "Respect for the Elderly Gift Money Distribution Amount Standards," with those aged 85 to 98 eligible to receive 3,000 yuan. Online registration and remittance are now open from today until August 14th, with the first batch of funds to be directly remitted to accounts on September 1st. If seniors choose to receive the money using the Respect for the Elderly Card or Love EasyCard, they can also participate in a lottery.

Additionally, the Taipei City Respect for the Elderly Love Card has been fully upgraded starting from July 2026, with monthly points increased to 600 and the scope of point redemption expanded, making it more convenient for seniors to travel and make daily purchases. Details of the distribution and benefits are as follows.

Eligible Recipients: Those who have been registered in Taipei City for at least 3 months by the Double Ninth Festival and are aged 65 or above (indigenous people aged 55 or above) as of December 31st of the same year.

Distribution Amounts: Aged 55-84 (indigenous people): 1,500 yuan Aged 65-84: 1,500 yuan Aged 85-98: 3,000 yuan Aged 99 and above: 10,000 yuan and 1 gift

Methods of Receipt: Low-income households: Direct remittance by the Social Affairs Bureau. General seniors (choose one of three options): Registration remittance: From today until August 14th, fill out the consent form online on the Social Affairs Bureau or district office website. The first remittance will be on September 1st. Card receipt: From September 7th to 18th, add value to your EasyCard at North Station EasyCard charging machines, four major convenience stores, or Beautiful Life "Beep Card" charging. Methods of Receipt: Remittance (priority): Fill out or download the "Double Ninth Festival Respect for the Elderly Gift Money Financial Account Application Form" at the district office or online. Cash: The district office will deliver cash to a designated location or to your home. Online inquiry: From June to December each year, the Respect for the Elderly Gift Money inquiry area is open. Enter your ID number and birthday to inquire about the amount and method of receipt.

Keelung City Eligible Recipients: Those who have been registered in Keelung City one month before the Double Ninth Festival and are aged 65 or above (indigenous people aged 55 or above).

Distribution Amounts: Aged 65-99: 1,000 yuan and 1 gift Aged 100 and above: 6,000 yuan

Methods of Receipt: Remittance: The Social Affairs Office will directly remit to your postal account after creating a roster. Cash: If you do not have a postal account, bring your ID and seal to the district office of your registered residence to receive cash in person.

Taoyuan City Eligible Recipients: Those who are aged 65 or above (indigenous people aged 55 or above) on the Double Ninth Festival, have been registered in Taoyuan City for at least 6 months with proof of residence; or foreign nationals who have been approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Mackay Project and reside in Taoyuan City.

Distribution Amounts: Aged 65-98: 2,500 yuan Aged 99 and above: 20,000 yuan

Methods of Receipt: Under 99 years old: The district office will directly remit to your postal or designated financial account 5 days before the Double Ninth Festival. You can apply for cash issuance with the district office for special reasons. Aged 99 and above: A representative from the district office will deliver the cash in person. Aged 100 and above: A representative from the Social Affairs Bureau or district office will deliver the cash in person.

Hsinchu County Eligible Recipients: Those who will be aged 65 or above by December 31, 2026, have been registered in Hsinchu County since August 1, 1994, have continuously been registered for at least 10 years by the application date, and have not received the Elderly Welfare Subsidy.

Distribution Amounts: 10,000 yuan per person.

Income Restrictions: Those with an annual income of 500,000 yuan or more, a total property value of 5,000,000 yuan or more, or current military, civil servants, public enterprise employees, or those receiving military/civil servant pensions, old-age farmers' subsidies, or veterans' allowances are excluded from distribution.

Methods of Receipt: From April 1 to September 30, 2026, prepare the application form, household registration transcript, photocopy of postal savings account, and income and property list, and submit them to the township/city/county public office of your registered residence (no need to reapply if approved last year).

Miaoli County Eligible Recipients: Those who were registered in Miaoli County before January 1 of the previous year and were aged 65 or above (or indigenous people aged 55-64) by January 1 of the current year.

Distribution Amounts: 1,000 yuan per person.

Methods of Receipt: Before the Double Ninth Festival, the public office will uniformly remit to the recipient's personal account. Those already registered do not need to reapply.

Taichung City Eligible Recipients: Those born before December 31, 1961 (indigenous people before December 31, 1971) and registered in Taichung City before August 27, 2016.

Methods of Receipt: Start issuing one week before the Double Ninth Festival (must be completed within one month). Those aged 65-99 can choose between cash or online application for remittance through Chiayi County's one-stop citizen service. Those aged 100 and above will be visited in person by the county magistrate or representative to offer congratulations.

Chiayi City Eligible Recipients: Those who will be aged 65 or above before the Double Ninth Festival, have been registered for 6 months prior, actually reside there, and are alive at the time of distribution.
