Due to the approaching strong Typhoon Bavi, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation held its first emergency response meeting today (9th) and announced the full cancellation of all international flights operated by national carriers on July 11. Passengers are advised to closely monitor official airline announcements and flight change information to avoid disruptions to their travel plans.

According to forecasts from the Central Weather Bureau, the most severe impact of Typhoon Bavi is expected between 6:00 PM on July 10 and 4:00 AM on July 12. In preparation for heavy winds and rain, both China Airlines and EVA Air have suspended all flight operations from 6:00 PM on July 10 to 4:00 AM on July 12. Starlux Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan have also announced the full cancellation of all flights on July 11.

To minimize typhoon impacts, Taoyuan Airport has initiated comprehensive typhoon preparedness measures this week, completing electronic inspections of critical facilities such as power systems, air conditioning, drainage, and jet bridges. Flood control supplies including sandbags, waterproof gates, pumps, and generators have been stockpiled. Enhanced protective measures have been implemented at key areas such as underpasses, central passageways, and parking lots.

Additionally, the airport authority has required all construction contractors to strengthen on-site safety, including adding weight to Jersey barriers, securing construction fencing, and removing or reinforcing temporary structures such as scaffolding, dust nets, and fall protection nets. Construction materials and equipment must be properly secured. Pumping equipment has been pre-deployed in flood-prone zones, and retention ponds have been pre-drained to enhance flood resilience.

The ongoing construction of Terminal 3 has also activated typhoon preparedness protocols, including deploying two 100-horsepower backup pumps to strengthen drainage systems. Construction panels must be either removed in advance or securely fastened to prevent windborne debris and potential hazards.

Taoyuan Airport Corporation also announced the preventive closure of the airport observation deck starting at 6:00 PM on July 10. Given that this coincides with the summer vacation and weekend travel peak, subsequent flights may be rescheduled, delayed, or postponed. Passengers are strongly advised to confirm the latest flight information and transportation conditions before departure to stay informed and avoid travel disruptions.
