A major domestic oil manufacturer, 'Zhonglian Oils,' has been found to have supplied soybean salad oil contaminated with benzopyrene (BaP), a Group 1 carcinogen, at 4.05 times the legal limit—reaching 8.1 ppb. The contaminated raw material amounts to 1,300 metric tons. According to the latest investigation by Taichung City's Food Safety Office and the central Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as of July 5, 2026, the incident has spread to over 300 brand manufacturers across Taiwan, affecting downstream processors, five-star hotels, chain restaurants, and supermarket chains. A total of 19 products across 31 batches have been impacted, including major brands such as Taisun, Fushou, Fumao, Kuei Kuan, Weiwang, and CP Group.

On Sunday, July 5, the FDA released a list of 257 affected businesses. On Monday, July 6, it held a press conference announcing the number of affected businesses had risen to 360. On Tuesday, July 7, the FDA released the first detailed list of 232 affected products. By Wednesday, July 8, the number had increased to 401, and on Thursday, July 9, it reached 440. Authorities have ordered Zhonglian Oils to immediately halt production on the problematic line. Companies found to have concealed, evaded, or failed to properly recall products may face fines of up to NT$3 million under the Food Safety Act.

[Latest] July 9 (Thu): Carcinogenic salad oil – affected products rise to 440 items! Seven reprocessed items from Nanchiao, totaling 62 delivery notes, have entered the market.

Taipei City Health Bureau confirmed that seven products reprocessed by Nanchiao using the contaminated oil have entered the market. These include Nanchiao NEBOS Functional Fat Spread, Bakery Clean Upgrade Oil (No-additive Stirring Oil), Master Liquid Frying Oil, Weijia Unsalted Baking Butter, Vegetable Shortening Oil, Weijia Special Danish Oil, and Special Baking Oil. A total of 62 delivery notes have been distributed to 57 stores in Taipei City. All related reprocessed food items have now been recalled and removed from shelves. The FDA has added well-known companies such as Noble House, Boulangerie Bread, Hojiaxiang, and Qiaofu Enterprise to the list.

- On the evening of July 7, the FDA released the first detailed list of 232 affected products, resulting in the recall of 43.278 metric tons. Among them, approximately 80 products co-manufactured by Lian Hua Foods for convenience stores were included, such as Lin Congming Chicken Rice Onigiri, Fu-Hang Doujiang Classic Onigiri, Fu-Jin Shu Po-Pi Spicy Shrimp Scrambled Egg Rice, Shi-An Ranch Half-Cooked Egg Onigiri, and Wabe Don Premium Secret Combo Bento.

Health Minister Shih Chou-liang announced that 175 products with contamination levels below 20% must be fully withdrawn immediately, with removal completed by 24:00 on July 8.

- On July 8, the FDA announced that Taisun's 'Haoli Blended Oil 0.6L' (expiry date: July 25, 2027) exceeded the limit at 2.5μg/kg (standard: 2.0μg/kg). A total of 996 cases (0.6L × 24 bottles/case) were produced, with 354 cases in inventory and 642 cases already shipped.

- On July 8, 169 additional items were added to the preventive withdrawal list, increasing the total affected products from 232 to 401. The new list includes 45 items from CP Group, such as Italian Classic Tender Chicken Breast; 8 items from Weiwang, including Jin Wei Wang Braised Beef Noodles and Smoked Vegetarian Chicken Soup Noodles; 33 items from Louisa, including Pad Kra Pao and Caesar Sauce; 6 items from Golden Three Mackerel, such as Chowder Soup and Seafood Pot; 2 items from Lao Hsieh Chen, 'TOMMI Tommy - White Sauce Cod Fillet Rice Burger' and 'TOMMI Tommy - Seafood Shrimp Fillet Rice Burger'; and 14 items from Ping-Jung Foods Xin-Feng Plant, including (Quick Meal) Braised Lion's Head (116/4/24–4/30), (Quick Meal) Sweet and Sour Chicken (116/4/24–4/30), and Iron Plate Scrambled Egg Pork Cutlet Donburi (116/4/24–5/1).

On July 3, Yunlin County Health Bureau confirmed that Weiwang's Yunlin Dapi plant purchased 120 drums (approximately 2,160 kg) of 'Yikang Soybean Salad Oil (18kg)' with the problematic batch number from Fumao Oils. All of it was used to produce seasoning oil packets for 8 popular instant noodle products, affecting over 25,000 cases (19,902 cases already distributed).

Weiwang has urgently announced a complete halt to using all soybean oil from Fumao and has suspended shipment of related semi-finished and finished products.
