According to sources, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s social media company has recently discussed charging Wall Street traders and investment firms up to $100,000 per month (approximately NT$3.24 million) to gain faster access to Trump’s posts on its platform, Truth Social.

Reuters, citing sources, reported that Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Truth Social, has recently offered discounted plans to related businesses: a three-year contract would reduce the monthly fee to $60,000 (approximately NT$1.94 million).

On the 16th, TMTG announced the launch of a paid data licensing service called Truth API, allowing banks and trading firms to obtain posts from the 10 most influential accounts on Truth Social at the 'fastest possible speed' to gain a competitive edge in market trading. However, pricing details were not disclosed at the time.

According to reports, the product will track influential posts around the clock and provide an archive of posts dating back to 2022. TMTG stated that it had already received paid subscriptions from customers before the official launch on August 1.

Trump’s social media posts frequently move markets. Many large trading firms, hedge funds, and financial service companies rely heavily on execution speed for profitability.

Sources indicate that access to Truth API data is critical for high-frequency trading firms, as even a millisecond speed advantage can generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit during large trades.

Critics, however, question whether Trump and his family are attempting to profit from policies announced by the Trump administration, thereby increasing their personal wealth. In his most recent financial disclosure, Trump stated he earned over $1.4 billion last year from his family’s cryptocurrency business—previously, his digital asset income benefited from policies he announced.

Donald Sherman, president of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), said the Truth API arrangement is 'broadly unethical,' though based on currently available information, it is difficult to determine whether the service is illegal.

Sherman noted that while federal regulations generally prohibit buying or selling securities based on material non-public information, insider trading restrictions may not apply if hundreds or thousands of people can gain early access to Trump’s posts.
