Looking for a place to let kids burn off energy during summer vacation, but worried about scorching sun or sudden rain? The brand-new 'Littoral Inclusive Wheels Plaza' in Luzhu District, Taoyuan City, officially opened today (18th). This 15-million-TWD facility creatively transforms the space beneath an elevated bridge, allowing families to enjoy rollerblading, skateboarding, and unicycling regardless of sunshine or rain. Simultaneously, the 'Littoral Midsummer Kids Festival,' a family-focused event, kicks off today and will run for four consecutive weekends at the nearby Littoral风雨Ball Court, directly fulfilling parents’ wishes for shaded, free, and fun-filled activities—making it the hottest new summer destination for families in northern Taiwan!

Jointly funded by the Central Sports Department and Taoyuan City Government with approximately 15 million TWD, the 'Littoral Inclusive Wheels Plaza' was designed around the principles of 'inclusivity, diversity, and revitalization.' The site takes full advantage of the shelter provided by the elevated bridge, effectively reducing the impact of extreme summer heat and sudden rain, allowing citizens to use the space safely all year round. The plaza features a well-planned layout: a circular practice track designed for skateboarders and rollerbladers needing smooth flow; a wave riding zone offering speed thrills with elevation changes for intermediate wheeled sports enthusiasts; a children’s beginner zone providing a safe, flat area for young kids trying wheeled sports for the first time; and basic extreme sports facilities catering to unicyclists and athletes practicing advanced tricks.

Taoyuan Deputy Mayor Su Jun-Bin stated, 'Haihu Elementary School and Shanjiao Junior High in Luzhu have excelled in unicycling sports, with Shanjiao Junior High being a nationally top-tier team. With the completion of this extreme sports venue, training facilities have become even more comprehensive, significantly boosting grassroots sports talent development in Taoyuan.'

The city government has successfully revitalized previously underutilized bridge-under spaces by integrating the sports plaza with surrounding bike paths and baseball/softball fields. Future plans will continue connecting Haihu and Shanjiao, extending through Waisha and Kengkou, to build the 'Pearl Coast Littoral Tourism Corridor,' positioning this extreme sports plaza as the brightest gem along Taoyuan’s coastal tourism route.

To celebrate the plaza’s opening, Luzhu District Office is hosting the 'Littoral Midsummer Kids Festival' for four consecutive weekends starting July 18th at the Littoral风雨Ball Court. Parents and children can participate in a 'parkour challenge game,' using motion-sensing technology to complete tasks safely while exercising and learning about Taoyuan’s hidden gems and new attractions. Successful participants can redeem free local Taoyuan snacks such as Kinshui Rice Crisps and Nanzao Walnut Cake. Additionally, renowned cultural agricultural vendors will join the event, including Lanyuan Bee Farm offering eco-friendly beeswax cloth DIY, and Level One Farm providing summer mosquito-repellent spray DIY workshops. All activities are open for on-site registration until full capacity. This summer, for a free, refreshing, and educational family outing, simply navigate to the Littoral风雨Ball Court for a complete experience.
