Kaohsiung 115th Silver Voice Singing Competition in Songlin! Promoting Senior Social Participation and Active Lifestyle

The Kaohsiung City Government Social Bureau's 'Silver Voice Singing Competition' East District preliminary round kicked off with great enthusiasm at the Songlin District Great Love Activity Center on the 17th. Over 200 spectators gathered to cheer for nearly 60 elderly participants as they sang their hearts out for the highest honor and substantial prize money. In the end, Mr. Wu Shang-nan won first place in the Evergreen (80 years and above) category, while Ms. Li Shuhua took first place in the Vitality (65 to under 80 years) category, winning a 3,000 yuan gift certificate and the right to advance to the finals.

The 'Silver Voice Singing Competition,' organized by the Kaohsiung City Government Social Bureau, is in its third year. Through the singing competition, it provides an excellent competitive environment and experience for the senior population to showcase their talents. It encourages seniors to make friends through song, expand their social circles, promote physical and mental health, enjoy an active lifestyle, and increase social participation, making silver-haired life more vibrant. The preliminary rounds will be held from July to August, divided into five districts: East, West, South, North, and Central. Each district will select the top three participants to advance to the grand finals in September.

The event invited three professional judges to ensure fair and impartial scoring. They praised the seniors' singing voices and courage and hoped that they could bring joy to their daily lives through singing. Among them, the amateur-turned-singer 'Ewe Ewe Ewe Queen' Xie Caiyin lively imitated sheep sounds on stage, easing the seniors' tension and encouraging the participants to strive for their dreams without giving up.

After a series of intense singing battles, the finalists for the East District preliminary round were selected. The top three in the Evergreen category were Wu Shang-nan, Li Yuanye, and Lin Chunchou; the top three in the Vitality category were Li Shuhua, Chen Qiuzai, and Chen Jiangshui.
