Facebook experienced a brief service disruption on the afternoon of April 19, 2025. Numerous users took to the social platform X to report that they were unable to use Facebook's desktop version. After logging in, the page displayed an error message stating 'Account Temporarily Unavailable,' causing some users to briefly worry that their accounts had been suspended.
By 4:00 PM, nearly 5,000 people had reported Facebook outages on the website Downdetector. Around 3:45 PM, Facebook suddenly went down, and users attempting to open the web version saw the message: 'This page cannot be displayed right now. This might be due to a technical error. We're working to fix it—please try reloading the page.' However, after clicking reload, users were redirected to a page stating 'Account Temporarily Unavailable,' with a smaller note below explaining: 'Due to an issue with the site, your account is temporarily unavailable. We expect this issue to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.'
According to data from Downdetector, Facebook likely experienced a service anomaly around 3:30 PM, with many users reporting issues with page loading. On PTT, a popular online forum in Taiwan, users also posted about the issue. Comments included: 'Is Facebook down? Suddenly can't open it,' 'After refreshing, it says my account is temporarily unavailable,' 'Can't access via computer,' 'I thought it was my fault,' 'Mobile version works, but desktop is completely down,' 'The internet hasn't gone out yet, but Facebook did,' 'Account temporarily unavailable—I thought it was hacked,' and 'Desktop version down +1.'
