The 56th National Skills Competition, representing the highest level of Taiwan's vocational education, officially kicks off at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. This is not just a competition, but a critical arena where Taiwan's youth leverage 'hard skills' to secure high-paying careers in future industries.

At the training facility jointly operated by the Northern Branch of the Workforce Development Agency and Nangang Industrial High School, sparks fly. Chen Guan-Ting, a youth category metal structure fabrication (cold work) competitor who grew up watching his father disassemble and reassemble air conditioner units, has long treated the sound of machinery as his background soundtrack. After entering vocational high school, he challenged himself in the cold work field, which combines precision machining with practical application, and advanced all the way to the national competition. However, during early training, he nearly ruined a project due to imprecise measurements in gas cutting operations. With guidance from Northern Branch trainers, he slowed down his workflow and began precisely calculating cutting paths.

Chen emphasized that this is not just about physical strength, but a mental and focus-intensive battle: "Now, when problems arise, I first observe and analyze before acting. I never rely on instinct alone."

Shifting focus to another training site, Zheng Wei-Jun, a youth electronics competitor trained through a collaboration between Taishan High School and the Northern Branch, is intensely troubleshooting circuit boards and running program tests under high pressure. Introduced to electronic circuits through a vocational program in junior high, he entered professional training just four months ago and secured 4th place in the Northern Regional Skills Competition this March, qualifying for the national stage. The sense of achievement from seeing his own designs come to life has become his strongest motivation for daily high-intensity practice.

Zheng said, "I believe in the results of countless repetitive practices. Staying focused on each step in front of me is what matters most."

Behind every outstanding project on the national stage lies the accumulated effort of Northern Branch trainers guiding young people through countless failures and corrections. The 56th National Skills Competition, showcasing the resilience of Taiwan's vocational education, will take place from July 29 to August 2 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
