Commuters who regularly use intercity buses must pay close attention when traveling tomorrow! Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport has announced that it will implement phased data center relocation and maintenance operations on July 21, 2026, resulting in a complete disconnection of its nationwide ticketing system. All services—including ticket purchases, collections, refunds, and exchanges—will be temporarily suspended.
Passengers planning to travel tomorrow will not be able to purchase reserved-seat tickets at service counters. Instead, they must use alternative boarding methods such as purchasing non-reserved tickets with cash, using electronic payment cards, or paying in cash onboard.
According to an official announcement released by Kuo-Kuang on July 17, the company will conduct data center cabling relocation and maintenance from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to improve its information systems and enhance service quality. During this period, all ticketing connections will be fully interrupted, affecting a wide range of services.
Affected channels include all physical counters across Taiwan, automated ticket machines, three major convenience stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Lawson), online booking platforms, LINE PAY, LINE OA, LINE PAY MINI, KLOOK, KKDAY, WandaTong app, credit card payments, and electronic ticket top-ups.
When will Kuo-Kuang suspend ticket sales?
Kuo-Kuang will suspend all ticketing services nationwide from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, resulting in a 9-hour disconnection of ticketing systems across counters, online platforms, and convenience stores.
For passengers who have already purchased or reserved tickets, or those planning to buy tickets on-site tomorrow, Kuo-Kuang has outlined corresponding contingency boarding measures.
First, passengers on reserved routes who have already purchased and collected their tickets will not be affected and can board their original scheduled service with their assigned seat.
For those who have made advance reservations and payments but have not yet collected their tickets, Kuo-Kuang recommends collecting tickets at stations by July 20. If tickets remain uncollected on the day of travel, passengers may go directly to the station, present proof of purchase, and follow station staff instructions to collect tickets and board.
Four Alternative Boarding Methods for Un-ticketed Passengers
For passengers without pre-purchased tickets who need to travel during the ticketing system outage, the following four on-site boarding alternatives will be available:
1. Ticket Counters: Only cash payments will be accepted for non-reserved seat tickets. 2. Electronic Ticket Cards: Passengers should directly tap their EasyCard, iPASS, or icash 2.0 when boarding. Passengers using TPASS 2.0+ can tap onboard to accumulate rides and spending. Kuo-Kuang emphasizes that passenger rights remain unaffected when using electronic tickets, but users must ensure sufficient card balance before boarding or top up in advance at convenience stores or MRT station top-up kiosks. 3. Onboard Cash Payment: Passengers without electronic tickets should prepare exact change and pay in cash upon boarding. As no change will be provided onboard, drivers or station staff will assist with boarding. 4. Social Welfare Card Holders: Before boarding, passengers must complete a 'card swipe and point deduction' procedure at the ticket counter and then board with the provided boarding slip.
Waiver of Refund Fees and Counter Processing Period
Refund services will also be affected during the maintenance period. Kuo-Kuang announced that passengers holding tickets for departures between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on July 21 will receive full refunds with 'no refund processing fees'.
Special attention is required for credit card ticket refunds. Since the credit card system will be offline during maintenance, passengers wishing to refund tickets purchased by credit card must visit a counter during operating hours either after the system resumes at 6:00 PM on July 21 or within seven days of the travel date (by July 27).
Kuo-Kuang urges passengers to follow the instructions of on-site station personnel when boarding. If the maintenance work is completed earlier than scheduled, regular ticketing and information services will be immediately restored nationwide.
