New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-ih led the municipal team today (21st) to conduct the 2026 (115th year) Mayor’s Mobile Governance inspection in Shulin District, conducting on-site reviews of local infrastructure projects and listening directly to suggestions from neighborhood leaders.
Mayor Hou first visited the newly opened 'Sanlong Park Canopy Basketball Court' to inspect improvements in local sports and recreational environments. He emphasized that the city government has been actively developing high-quality community sports spaces. Since 2019, the city has completed 44 canopy basketball courts and 20 sports centers, with another 12 canopy courts and five sports centers currently under planning and construction. The goal is to upgrade public facilities to provide residents with safer and more comfortable spaces for leisure and exercise.
Since its opening, the 'Sanlong Park Canopy Basketball Court' has been widely praised by basketball enthusiasts. The court features a full-weather membrane canopy, uniquely painted flooring designs, and standard court dimensions, offering citizens a premium sports environment.
The mayor then proceeded to inspect the 'Tucheng-Shulin Line CQ890 Section' to review the latest progress of the Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line (Phase II). Mayor Hou stressed that MRT development is a core engine for regional growth. The municipal team is fully committed to overcoming construction challenges, ensuring public safety and engineering quality, and steadily advancing toward the targeted 2031 opening.
On-site, the mayor carefully listened to project briefings and expressed appreciation and gratitude to the hardworking construction teams. Hou stated that New Taipei City aims to complete its 'Four Loops, Eight Lines' rail network by 2035, with a total of 189 kilometers and 182 stations within the city (currently at 108 kilometers and 71 stations), achieving a target of 4.5 stations per 100,000 residents.
During the subsequent community leaders’ meeting, Shulin District Chief Hong Chong-lian presented the district’s municipal achievements, highlighting Mayor Hou’s deep engagement at the grassroots level. Key accomplishments include the completion of the second phase of the Shulin Life Memorial Hall, the renovation of 23 managed parks (6 newly built, 14 renovated, achieving an 87% renewal rate), the revitalization of the high-speed rail viaduct underpass into a 1.4-kilometer green corridor, comprehensive upgrades to the Taliao Creek Trail enhancing public access to water, and the addition of four new civic activity centers.
During the discussion, Mayor Hou expressed special gratitude to local village leaders and legislators for their support in advancing municipal projects. He announced that in 2025 (116th year), the city will adjust and increase operational budgets for neighborhood leaders to fully enhance frontline service capacity.
