Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the global medical industry and becoming an important tool in cancer diagnosis. Research from Johns Hopkins Health System shows that AI can detect signs of pancreatic cancer up to 16 months earlier, significantly improving early diagnosis opportunities.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to treat, primarily because the disease often has no obvious symptoms in its early stages. According to statistics from the American Cancer Society, the overall five-year relative survival rate for all pancreatic cancer patients is approximately 13%. However, if diagnosis is made before cancer cells have spread outside the pancreas, the five-year relative survival rate can be increased to 44%, demonstrating the critical impact of early detection on treatment outcomes.

In addition to aiding in the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, AI is also transforming the new drug development process. AI can simulate the actions of different molecules using computer models and pre-select promising candidate drugs, significantly reducing the number of tests researchers need to conduct and accelerating the speed of new drug development.

While AI in the medical field is still in its early stages, its potential is enormous. More large-scale clinical studies and real-world data support are needed to fully prove its safety, reliability, and long-term benefits. AI is expected to play an important role as a crucial auxiliary tool in cancer treatment.
