26 alumni of TAIWAN UNIVERSITY EMBA successfully completed a 1055km circumnavigation of Taiwan in 47 hours and 19 minutes, celebrating the program's 20th anniversary. President Zhang Guoren stated that TAIWAN UNIVERSITY EMBA will continue to uphold the spirit of 'Passing the Flag of TAIWAN UNIVERSITY and Leading the Future,' deepening cross-industry exchanges and working together towards the next 20 years. The chairman of the EMBA Alumni Association, Lin Tiancai, expressed that the 20-year-old EMBA has demonstrated strong cohesion, and this challenge not only set a proud record but also left a meaningful milestone for the 20th anniversary.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, TAIWAN UNIVERSITY EMBA organized the 'Passing the Flag of TAIWAN UNIVERSITY and Leading Twenty' cycling relay challenge around Taiwan, planned and executed by the 18th Cycling Society. President Xu Siyi mentioned that this activity was led by four team captains—Huang Yaoyi, Zhang Zhirong, Ye Yuzhu, and Hong Qingda—who planned the rhythm and stable formation according to the characteristics of each segment. The logistics were supported by Lin Junen and President Xiao Yang, leading the supply team throughout the journey. The 26 alumni, coming from diverse backgrounds and ages, were divided into four teams taking turns in a relay format, cycling day and night for 48 hours. Despite facing intense sun, heavy rain, strong headwinds, and continuous uphill climbs in southern and northern sections, the teams demonstrated remarkable resilience.
President Xu Siyi mentioned that the activity started on July 17th from the Xu Siyi Chapel at TAIWAN UNIVERSITY in Taichung and returned to the destination in Taichung on July 19th. The 26 alumni successfully completed the 1055km circumnavigation of Taiwan in 47 hours and 19 minutes. President Zhang Guoren stated that the 'Passing the Flag of TAIWAN UNIVERSITY and Leading Twenty' set a record with 47 hours and 19 minutes. Each pedal stroke carried the footsteps of the alumni, and each handover represented the transfer of trust. This demonstrates that TAIWAN UNIVERSITY EMBA will continue to uphold the spirit of 'Passing the Flag of TAIWAN UNIVERSITY and Leading the Future,' deepening cross-industry exchanges and working together towards the next 20 years.
Lin Tiancai, the chairman of the 19th EMBA Alumni Association, stated that today, we are not standing at the starting point of a cycling activity but at the historical starting point of TAIWAN UNIVERSITY EMBA's 20th anniversary, embarking on a meaningful challenge. 48 hours, 1055 kilometers—while these numbers sound daunting, the true challenge is not the distance but our beliefs. The real challenge is not against others but against yesterday's self. Chairman Lin Tiancai also specially thanked Xu Siyi, the president of the 18th Cycling Society, as this relay challenge aims to complete what seems like an impossible task, uniting the centripetal force of alumni from all generations. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to all sponsoring companies and senior alumni for their financial, time, and effort support. This flag of TAIWAN UNIVERSITY is not just a flag but symbolizes responsibility, trust, and inheritance.
President Xu Siyi stated that cycling is a very honest sport, with no shortcuts in every pedal stroke, and relay is a responsibility. During the preparation period, the team invested countless time in route scouting, safety planning, handover drills, and supply allocation, all to ensure that every rider safely achieves their dream. This circumnavigation of Taiwan, seemingly belonging to the 26 riders, is actually a grand achievement completed by all participants. It perfectly demonstrates the excellent execution of a managerial team facing high-pressure tasks and consolidates the trust and responsibility among EMBA alumni.
