The Chien Tien-Sheng Memorial Foundation, the Chinese High-Permeability Hydro-Cooling Care Association, the Preparatory Committee of the Gong Ren Charity Public Welfare Foundation, Jian Ling Technology Co., Ltd., and the Taoyuan Baiyang Rotary Club recently jointly donated 1,650 lightweight blankets to vulnerable households, people with disabilities, fragile families, and elderly individuals living alone in Chiayi County. This initiative aims to provide a more comfortable resting environment during the hot summer season.
The Chiayi County Government hosted a donation ceremony under the theme "Spreading Love Through Lightweight Blankets, Doubling Happiness in Chiayi." Ms. Tsuei-Yao Chang, Director of the Social Affairs Bureau, stated, "Due to financial constraints, vulnerable families often struggle to prioritize purchasing daily necessities. Comfortable bedding plays a crucial role in enhancing quality of life and maintaining physical and mental health. While a single blanket may seem ordinary, for families with limited resources, it significantly reduces daily burdens and symbolizes societal care." The donated blankets will be distributed based on actual needs, with frontline social workers continuing to monitor family conditions during home visits and assessing whether additional welfare or care resources are required.
In addition to the blankets, the Chinese High-Permeability Hydro-Cooling Care Association facilitated a donation from Grace Foods Co., Ltd., providing 85 cans of nutritious products such as multigrain milk, golden five-seed mix, and black sesame paste to support the nutritional needs of elderly residents in remote areas of Alishan. Ms. Yin-Bing Liu, Director of the Gong Ren Charity Public Welfare Foundation Preparatory Committee and理事长 of the Chinese High-Permeability Hydro-Cooling Care Association, emphasized that supporting vulnerable and elderly populations requires joint efforts from government, enterprises, and civil organizations. She added that the Gong Ren Foundation is actively preparing for establishment and plans to set up "Happy Aging Hubs" in communities across counties, enabling seniors to receive appropriate care in familiar environments and gradually achieving the vision of "a dignified and supported old age."
The county government noted that six social welfare service centers in Chiayi County played a key role in this donation campaign by assessing and coordinating the needs of vulnerable families within their jurisdictions. Distribution was arranged based on household living conditions, caregiving burdens, and material shortages. This blanket donation not only helps meet essential daily needs but also provides children and family members with a more comfortable and secure resting environment, thereby alleviating the caregiving burden on vulnerable households.
