A fatal traffic accident occurred in Anping District, Tainan City, at around 4:00 a.m. on April 21, 2025. A 17-year-old male, riding without a license, was carrying his 17-year-old girlfriend on a motorcycle en route to the Guanxi Platform in Anping to watch the sunrise. While traveling near the intersection of Anbei Road and Zhouping 1st Street, the motorcycle suddenly veered off course and crashed into a roadside tree. The impact caused the motorcycle to catch fire and burn.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene to find both individuals without breathing or heartbeat. They were rushed to the hospital, but both were pronounced dead upon arrival. Subsequent blood tests conducted at the hospital revealed that the male rider's blood alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit.
According to preliminary investigations, the two victims are believed to have been in a romantic relationship. That night, the couple and two friends had set out from Madou on two motorcycles, first gathering in Yongkang before heading to the Guanxi Platform for sunrise viewing. Due to the early morning timing and the victims not carrying identification, police were initially unable to confirm their identities. It was only when their companions realized they were missing and returned to search that the victims' identities were confirmed and families notified.
The motorcycle was severely damaged at the scene, with vehicle parts and personal belongings scattered across the road. The impacted tree showed clear signs of collision. Police confirmed the male rider had no valid driver's license. Blood tests further confirmed he had been riding under the influence of alcohol. However, the precise cause and sequence of events are still under investigation, with authorities reviewing surveillance footage and vehicle evidence. The case has been referred to prosecutors for further investigation.
