With 60 days remaining until the opening of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, the National Sports Training Center held a press conference today (21st) titled 'Break Through. 60 Days to Asian Games' to energize and support Taiwan's delegation preparing for the upcoming competition. As on-field preparations enter the final sprint, off-field nutrition support has also been comprehensively upgraded. The Ministry of Agriculture has partnered with the Ministry of Sports in a cross-ministerial collaboration, carefully selecting high-quality, safe, and nutrient-rich agricultural, fishery, and livestock products from Taiwan. These will provide the national team with the strongest dietary support throughout training and during their overseas competition in Japan, aiming to become a crucial foundation for athletes striving for excellence.
The press conference was hosted by the National Sports Training Center, with attendees including Minister of Sports Li Yang, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Du Wen-Zhen, President of the Chinese Olympic Committee Tsai Chia-Fu, and Executive Director of the National Sports Training Center Chao Shih-Chiang. Together, they rallied support for Taiwan's athletes about to represent the nation, demonstrating the government’s cross-ministerial commitment to advancing competitive sports and the joint determination of enterprises and industries to stand behind the national team.
Deputy Minister Du Wen-Zhen emphasized that adequate and balanced nutrition is a fundamental basis for athletes to maintain high-intensity training and enhance performance. The agricultural products provided to the training center are all certified through production traceability or organic verification, ensuring quality, safety, nutrition, and taste. The goal is to create the best dietary environment for athletes using Taiwan’s premium agricultural products.
Executive Director Chao Shih-Chiang expressed gratitude for the Ministry of Agriculture’s strong support. He noted that the provided agricultural, fishery, and livestock products not only meet high quality and traceability standards but also align with the national team’s nutritional needs. These will be integrated into professional meal plans designed by the center’s nutritionists, serving as a key source of sustenance during Asian Games preparation.
