Mayor Huang emphasized that city diplomacy extends beyond official interactions, stressing the importance of generating tangible and long-term benefits. He noted that Pomerania is a rapidly advancing region in Poland, particularly in semiconductors and smart manufacturing, and with its access to the Baltic Sea, it holds significant port and logistics advantages, making it a crucial node in Poland’s economic development. He highlighted the complementary nature of Tainan’s industrial layout, laying a solid foundation for deeper collaboration.

Mayor Huang, accompanied by Tainan enterprises, conducted on-site visits to the Pomeranian Economic Zone in Gdansk and the Pomeranian Technology Park in Gdynia. The delegation held in-depth exchanges with local automation and technology firms, gaining firsthand insights into Poland’s industrial landscape.

Huang pointed out that Tainan has been actively promoting AI and smart manufacturing in recent years, supporting enterprises in adopting intelligent production, digital transformation, and automation technologies. The city is continuously building a complete high-tech industrial ecosystem to enhance corporate competitiveness. Given the rapid global growth of AI and robotics industries, this visit specifically brought Tainan enterprises to Poland to foster business matchmaking and on-site exchanges, aiming to create new partnership opportunities, expand overseas markets, and drive Tainan’s industrial upgrading.

Mayor Huang also mentioned that the Taiwan-Poland Business Association plans to establish a preparatory office for an AI Robotics Alliance in Poland. He expressed hope to leverage the association and Chairman Chao Chung-chieh’s long-standing networks and resources between Taiwan and Poland to connect Tainan, Taiwan, and Polish teams, promoting substantive cooperation in artificial intelligence and related fields.

Gdansk, Gdynia, and the tourist city of Sopot together form the Tricity region of Pomerania, a major urban area in northern Poland. Gdansk is the provincial capital and largest city, and the hometown of Poland’s current Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Gdynia, established in the 1920s as a new port city, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026.
