Kaohsiung City Government continues to advance its smart city initiatives by upgrading the 'Digital Citizen Activity Platform' developed in collaboration with Foxconn. The platform now features a new 'activity voting' function, which was first implemented in the 'Dagang Ice Popularity Vote' campaign. This innovation reduced the previous manual vote counting time of approximately 60 minutes to just 5 minutes, significantly enhancing administrative efficiency and the quality of ballot management, showcasing Kaohsiung's achievements in smart governance.
The platform integrates event registration, voting, and e-ticketing into a one-stop smart municipal service. According to the Kaohsiung City Government Research, Evaluation, and Assessment Commission, the 'Dagang Ice Popularity Vote' marks the first major application of the voting function on the digital citizen platform. Citizens can now vote directly via smartphone, eliminating the need for paper ballots or on-site manual tallying. This not only accelerates the vote-counting process but also improves data accuracy and transparency, laying the foundation for future digital voting in municipal events.
In addition to the new voting feature, the platform has launched a dedicated event promotion homepage that consolidates activity information from various city departments. Citizens can access all event details through a single entry point, increasing event visibility and promotional effectiveness while making it easier for the public to stay informed about the latest city activities.
To enhance user experience, the platform introduces a new 'Personal Ticket Box' feature, which integrates e-tickets, registration records, event schedules, and important notices. Users can check their registered activities anytime, and on the day of the event, simply present their e-ticket for quick check-in—eliminating the need to repeatedly search through SMS or emails.
Chen Po-chou, Chairperson of the Research, Evaluation, and Assessment Commission, stated that the city government is committed to the vision of 'connecting services through digital means and bringing intelligence into daily life.' This upgrade not only adds an event promotion homepage and personal ticket box but also breaks new ground by extending the platform’s use to activity voting—effectively saving administrative manpower and delivering more convenient digital public services to citizens.
The Commission noted that it will continue to expand the platform’s capabilities, integrating more departmental activities and municipal services to broaden the scope of digital participation. The goal is to build a comprehensive, one-stop smart living platform and steadily advance toward becoming a world-class smart city.
