The Environmental Protection Bureau recently dispatched personnel to locations including Youchang Drainage, Forest Park, Xingzhong Control Gate, and Yiqun Bridge, collecting a total of five water samples for testing. According to the latest data, levels of suspended solids (SS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), and heavy metals (zinc, nickel, total chromium, copper) were all below discharge standards, with no abnormalities detected. Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) requires several days of cultivation under testing protocols and is still under ongoing analysis.

To monitor water quality in real time, the Environmental Bureau installed four real-time monitoring systems along Houjing Creek this morning (22nd). These include one fixed unit at Youchang Main Drain and three mobile units at Xingzhong Bridge, Yiqun Bridge, and Dehui Bridge. Should any abnormal readings be detected, personnel will be immediately dispatched to trace the source, strengthening 24-hour monitoring and emergency response.

Additionally, a comprehensive special inspection has been launched targeting 111 businesses near Houjing Creek, including restaurants, auto repair shops, motorcycle shops, and car wash services near Xingzhong Bridge and Youchang Drainage, to thoroughly inspect their wastewater discharge practices. Yesterday (21st), five businesses were found illegally discharging wastewater—four restaurants and one long-term care facility. Violations included inadequate oil trap performance or lack of regular cleaning, and in some cases, no oil traps or wastewater treatment facilities at all, resulting in milky, oil-laden wastewater polluting Houjing Creek. All cases violated Article 27 of the Waste Disposal Act. Fines ranging from NT$1,200 to NT$100,000 were issued, and businesses were ordered to rectify issues and clean drainage ditches within a specified timeframe. Continued enforcement and legal prosecution against illegal discharges will be strengthened.
