Zhen Media released on the 23rd the latest public opinion survey results on current affairs among Kaohsiung residents, focusing on an assessment of Mayor Chen Chi-mai's overall administrative performance. The data shows that as high as 78.5% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Chen Chi-mai's governance, while 14.7% were dissatisfied. This indicates strong public endorsement of the current city government's policy direction.

Do supporters from the Blue-White camp also approve? Cross-party recognition revealed through party-based analysis

When cross-analyzed by political affiliation, 95.8% of those identifying with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) expressed satisfaction with Chen's administration. Among traditional opposition supporters, 52.0% of those identifying with the Kuomintang (KMT) gave a positive evaluation, while 62.2% of Taiwan People's Party (TPP) supporters also expressed satisfaction. Among neutral voters with no specific party preference, 75.5% expressed satisfaction, while 13.1% were dissatisfied. Overall, even among citizens leaning toward the KMT and TPP, approval ratings for Chen's governance exceeded disapproval.

Which administrative district has the highest satisfaction? Regional and age group differences revealed

In the cross-analysis across Kaohsiung's eight legislative districts, the first district, covering the Daqimei area, recorded the highest approval rating at 89.2%, topping all eight districts. In contrast, the eighth district, including Cianjhen, Siaogang, and Cijin, recorded a dissatisfaction rate of 21.3%, the highest among all districts.

Analyzing by demographic data, age and education level show that satisfaction above the city average is concentrated among young adults aged 20–29, seniors aged 70 and above, and citizens with university degrees. Groups with dissatisfaction rates above the city average include those aged 30–39 and individuals with high school, vocational college, or postgraduate education. Nevertheless, across all demographic groups, approval ratings for Chen Chi-mai's administration remain stably above 70%.

In addition to administrative satisfaction, the poll also measured residents' current party preferences. The results show that 41.1% of citizens support the DPP, 19.8% support the KMT, and 5.2% support the TPP. The party preference structure places the DPP at the top, followed by the KMT.

In terms of political spectrum identification, 43.3% of Kaohsiung residents identify as part of the Pan-Green camp, 22.9% as Pan-Blue, and 29.3% identify as neutral voters.

This survey was commissioned by Zhen Media and conducted by Shanshui Public Opinion Research Co., Ltd. The survey was carried out from July 18 to July 20, 2026, targeting Kaohsiung residents aged 20 and above. Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) was used. The sampling frame consisted of household landline users, with random two-digit suffix dialing for number selection. Weighting was applied based on Ministry of the Interior population statistics for region, gender, age group, and education level to align with the population structure. A total of 1,069 valid responses were collected. At a 95% confidence level, the sampling error is approximately ±3.00 percentage points.
